Dear Friends:
It is my sincere pleasure to announce to you that the Omaha Branch of the
NAACP’s 2008 Juneteenth Celebration will be one of the greatest ever. This
year’s theme is “ History is NOW: Diversity through UNITY”!
As the President of the Omaha Branch of the NAACP, I am proud to serve this city
and the Midwest region. Each year, I look forward to this time so that we may
celebrate who we are and to whose we are!
Join us as we put together the biggest and best parade this city has ever seen.
Once again, your local branch of the NAACP is spearheading this event. The
parade co-sponsored by the City of Omaha’s Human Rights and Relations Department
will begin at 10:00 a.m. (line-up starts as 8:00 a.m.) on Saturday, June 14,
2008 at 24th and Hamilton Streets (Long School Marketplace) and proceed up 24th
Street to its final destination of Miller Park.
We look forward to working with each of you to carry on this strong tradition of
Omaha’s Juneteenth Celebration.
The Omaha NAACP will only be affiliated with the annual parade. All other
activities are not NAACP sponsored.
Please return the entry form
before or on the May 30, 2008 deadline. Space is limited so get your entries in
early.
All inquiries concerning the parade should be addressed to me or Mr. Steve
Jackson, NAACP Juneteenth Committee Chair, at the branch office (2221 N. 124th
Street, Omaha, NE 68110). Feel free to contact us if you have any questions. The
phone number at the branch office is 402-345-6227.
Sincerely,
Ms. Tommie M. Wilson
President
Omaha Branch of the NAACP
